Skyswept Designs is the studio home of Louise Perrin, an internationally-juried, mixed media fibre artist living in SW Saskatchewan, who is strongly influenced by the prairie vistas and the unending skies surrounding her. Growing up in a military family, Louise always tried to adapt to her current surroundings and to bloom where she is “planted”. After spending close to 30 years in the Maritimes, Louise returned to her beloved Prairies in late 2004.
Her original fibre art has been exhibited in juried shows, art shows and galleries locally, nationally and internationally. One of her pieces was in the collection of the Rt. Hon Jean Chretien, Prime Minister of Canada. Currently she has work travelling in the O, Canada 2010 Exhibit in the USA until November 2010.
As a mostly self-taught, life-long learner, Louise has continued to develop her interests and skills in photography, sewing, quilting and other handwork. She took her basic beginner traditional quilting course in 1982 in Paradise, N.S. and has never looked back. While in Nova Scotia, Louise won awards for her photography and quilts. Her latest passion is surface design and dyeing and painting fabrics. She incorporates many of the techniques she uses into her fibre art which continues to evolve over time.
Louise is a juried Marketing Member in the Saskatchewan Craft Council. Her work can be found at Traditions Handcraft Gallery and at SCC Sales. She sells her scarves and photographic items through a number of fine craft and clothing stores in Southwest Saskatchewan, her studio and her online shop.
